It is not fair, to deny your loved ones, for your peace of mind.

'Fair' is a relative term and goes hand in hand with 'Love'. If that person is loved as you say then the pair you speak of should be viewed as a singular entity. This means 'Fair' for one might not be 'Fair' for the other. There is a fine line between deciding who's wellbeing should be jeopardized so the decision lies with the unity of the two.

So what if a husband doesn't allow his wife to sky-dive because of the dangers involved, for example?

It's not fair to deny her, but it's not fair for him to go through the worry - (his subjective worry may be more than is ojectively required...)
