My first set of holiday photos...

It saddens me to see beauty fallen. It saddens me to see beauty in the ruins.
Every morning the sun rises, and every day it sets on the same misery. Why do we see hope in the sun? It leaves us every night, and yet we forgive it each morning. We are only foolish mortals, every single one of us. More fool he who thinks he is better. Better than what?

And see how the mighty have fallen. How the mighty have been destroyed. What once stood so proud shattered into complacency. Not knowing what life was like before. Not knowing.

It's amazing one can see the mountains from here. For the smog is so thick it takes considerable effort to keep breathing. Remembering to breathe when it stings one's nostrils.

I think I love you

Awesome pics! Glad to see you stopped by and dropped a line. Monkeys are the key to life, liberty and poo-flinging, yes!

Its hard to understand how a beautiful town can be full of smog.
What about the people who are living there? A heaven can be hell for them. Planet will teach us a lesson soon.

Please name the places Laila.

Very good pictures. very sharp and terrific details, I am happy. you have an eye for the unusual 'fallen' is well taken.

Some people wanted to make an attempt to land on the sun.
you will be burnt, they were told
they laughed and said
no, we will be landing in the night.

The sunrise is beautiful Laila.

Awesome pictures. Did not know you were back yet!!! Glad to see that you are alive and kicking.

When the sun rises, I see it as beauty, the beginning for a new day and in a sunrise, I see hope for a better tomorrow. Having said that, I must be manly now and eat something that I grilled. Or play some sort of competitive sport.

For rauf - All these photos were taken in Iran.

The first is the sun setting in the hills of Lavasan, just outside Tehran.

The second and the last are in the Shah's palace, Tehran.

The third one is the view from my aunts house, Tehran.

So I guess the night isn't that bad, Rauf ;O)

Angel jr. - I think most people do! it keeps us going... it's something constant in this world of confusion.

The lion is my favoutrite photo, Fal

Is there any place a sunrise doesn't look good?

Funny. Taking a picture is a snap, it's a moment converted into an image. But you can twist them in a way that makes it bétter than reality. That picture of the broken lamppost for instance is really nice, but it must have had a smell, a surrounding, there must've been noises. By leaving all that out, that picture is nothing at all like reality - it's way better. Way calmer, almost static.

Sunsets or sunrises are less nice in the Netherlands - there are no mountains it can slip behind. It's nice when you are at the beach, though.
