Don't look at me that way

"Don't look at me that way, it was an honest mistake" -
'Honest Mistake' - The Bravery

Foolish girl! You chased too much freedom. Too much freedom isn't good for anyone, not even you. Not even you.

Too much freedom is only not good for you if you don't know what to do with it.

I imagine a world in which I am completely free. Free to go where I want, with whom I wish, and do things that right now I haven't the freedom to do.

At the same time, I think I can see where you are coming from. If I couldn't do some things, I would not risk being hurt by those things.

Freedom is a wonderful thing. Enjoy it. Nothing lasts forever.

Freedom is the power to forget.

Ah, the lure of freedom...Such a harsh mistress...Nothing is ever truly free...

Take care out there, Leila!

Your Pal,

Zambo.

Courage does not mean lack of fear Laila, I may have courage but still afraid of then thousand things. there is no limit to freedom of thought but freedom of action should have limitation.

I don't want freedom at all.

Give me commitment.

Most of us hang ourselves if we have enough rope.
I find it ironic that freedom can only be attained through self control.
Freedom in it's purest form requires the wisdom to choose what is best for others, it is not selfish. To be free is to be rid of Self.

laura - yeh i suppose i didnt really think about it that way. but there are preciuos few ppl who do know what to do with it...

imemine - only?

zambo - "nothing is ever truly free" - i think i agree..

angel jr - ill go check it out :)

rauf - you're totally right as usual, freedom of action should be limited. it's dangerous

jeeps - i'm scared of commitment :(
i thought everyone wanted freedom?

anon - (sorry couldnt guess who you were). yeah but some of us choose what is best for others, while sacrificing our own needs. and that is no good either.

Yeh, that's what they say everybody wants. Well, not for me!

I just need someone to commit to. I think that's the biggest problem I have right now.

Leila said...

well i can relate to that jeeps...i think the reason i can't commit is mostly cause there is no-one worthwhile...or at least if there is i certainly haven't found them!

FREEDOM, n. Well, duh. Who'd be stupid enough to pay for it? Or vote for it? Ooops ... (Yeah, I'm a Yank. Lived a decade in Oz and New Zillnd. Then left. See dum, above.)

But intelligence, now, that costs money.

As for no one worthwhile, all you have to do is find Tience and pay him. Or is it her? Don't know, we've never met. But seriously, you're (begging your pardon) 18. You've hardly started yet. Don't make me go down there ... :)

Have a look here. Perhaps it will amuse you ...

Often, thinking about the possibilities of freedom can be quite scary.

What is freedom?
Is it possible?
Can you really forget?
Not very easy.
I have moral values I cannot forget or lose.

"Don't look at me that way..." too much freedom, even for you...

I often have trouble with the audio on my computer, so there may be stuff going on here that's unavailable. So I can only say, in a goofy voice, if you don't mind...

So what were you doin', like stickin' yer tongue out at somebody or somethin'? Watch that stuff!

Firstly you are assuming that we infact have free will or freedom of choice. I over the last few years have become an avid proponent of hard determinism. I believe that we are merely cogs in the universe, that any "decision" is predetermined by what ever factors came before it. Ie Genetics, socio economic factors, etc. Any "choices" we make are merely an illusion and that we were always going to make the decision we did.

By the way i am now officially coming to SA in november to count baboons! Awesome honey moon destination!
