When I was younger, I used to have a voice in my head. I always imagined it to be my 'Jiminy Cricket' - my conscience speaking to me - but from within.
It was a droning, mumbling, persistent voice, and I remember only too well the sensation of almost being able to hear what it was saying. The harder I strained to hear what it was saying, the harder it was. It was as though I could hear it best when I just relaxed and diverted my mind - but even then I could not hear the words I so desperately sought. But I think...I think I knew what it was telling me, somehow.
The voice has disappeared - I almost miss it.

Careful what you wish for. I've heard that voice. I thought I lost it in college. But when I'm tired or stressed out it returns. Sometimes louder and clearer than ever. No this isn't the Twilight Zone speaking. I'm normal. I hope ...
Hm, i've never had a voice..
What do you think it said?
o ceallaigh - hmm. i'm not pyscho either...at least i don't think so
jeeps - i'm pretty sure it was advising me...
good that its gone Laila.
Hiya. Don't worry about these things. These voices can give us good or bad advice and we remain free to act however we wish. It's just kind of the way we think.
Another great post, Leila, so honest and refreshing x
That Jiminy Cricket is a wily one...
If you hear voices, see colors, imagine people, then you need to stay off the dope ;) Just kidding. My conscience sends me emails, we are not on talking terms. :)
I loved Jiminy Cricket!!
Do you know what happens to people who hear voices in their head! Joan D'Arc found out.
Most people call it guilt, some common sense, others providence, and only a few refer to it as ME.
You seem to be very mature and grounded for your relatively brief tenure here on Earth. Have you considered the notion that Jiminy Cricket is off helping others who need a little more help. I'm sure that he will return when you need him.
"When you wish upon a star...."
rauf - yeh maybe...
benjamin - thats reassuring :) thanks

ari4u - heehee. you're better off that way...you can ignore the mail!
angel jr - doesn't everyone?
homo escapeons - hmmm. how do you always manage to make so much damn sense?
Hey Leila!
I hope all is well.
As long as the voice doesn't say stuff like:
"I am the angel of death. The time of purification is at hand..." you should be OK...
If it does say stuff like that, then you'll need an old priest and a young priest...
Take care out there, Leila.
Your Pal,
Zambo.
I had this too a long time ago. I think this happens when you start talking to yourself, and then think this voice is something separate from you or other than you.
It could just disappear when you get bored with it.
Don't encourage it or fight it and don't be afraid of it.
Just ignore it.
If it comes back and is giving you problems, like causing conflict, I know just how to get rid of it.
We're supposed to listen to the little voice? Jiminy Cricket!!
As we get older, I feel that voice inside us is still there. It's just harder for us to hear it since we're so overcome with responsibilities of life.
Be still. Be silent and listen carefully.
I bet you'll hear it still trying to speak with you.. even if faintly.
;)
Stop taking the pills that le man in white brings you. The voices will be back... and then the killing starts again.... MWAHAHAHAHA
Sorry, couldn't resist that one. ;o)
